I think it went very well. Many free otter pops were handed out. We made $312.85! Not bad. You have to realize that doesn't include all the stuff we've sold on E-bay, Amazon, and to my fabulous co-workers. Our big ticket item, the dishwasher, didn't sell. Chris's desk sold though so we were happy about that. Some of the stuff that didn't sell was actually stuff we kind of wanted to keep anyway. Lincoln was our most popular display and we were definitely keeping him! He did really well for us. I think I overpriced some items on purpose so I could keep them. There are some really nice frames I had and after my neighbor Kate helped clean them up for the yard sale I really liked them again. Funny how much better things look when they're clean. They didn't sell, so I can use them again and put pictures of my cute baby in them. All the people that came by were very nice and we didn't have any problem customers. There was a nice man who came to buy clothes to take with him to Tonga. I guess they don't have many clothing stores there and can't get long pants very easily. It's good they went for a good cause. By the end of the day we were completely wiped out. The donuts we won for having the best ad in the newspaper didn't really tide us over until 2 pm. To celebrate we went out for a seafood feast at McGraths and laid around the house for the rest of the evening.

congratulations!
Sounds like you guys did great! I'd like to hear more about the newspaper award and the donuts. Way to go!
newspaper award
So this guy showed up just before our garage sale started and said we won an award. He took our picture and gave us a box of donuts. It was very exciting. I think we won because we had free otter pops in the ad. When I called to place the ad, the guy from the newspaper was very excited about it. Other than that our ad was pretty boring, yard sale, our address, the day and time, and some of the things we had for sale.
