We went to the doctor yesterday for Lincoln's 6 month checkup. Ok, so we were a little late. 2 months late to be exact. He got 5 shots to make up for the one's he missed and also a flu shot. He's still growing quite well. Drum roll please......27 pounds, 1 ounce! I can't remember the height off the top of my head, but it wasn't as off the charts as the weight and head size. Still, he's a pretty tall kid for his age.

So in celebration of his 8 month birthday he decided to take his first steps alone. He has been standing by himself for a little while, but just for seconds. Last night he took steps for the first time ever! Doesn't he know he's not supposed to do that yet? He has two baby teeth now, makes all kinds of cute noises, laughs at us all the time, loves having us walk him all over the place, likes dogs and cars, and is just a sweet little boy. One strange thing he likes: Jenny Craig commercials with Kirstie Alley. Just can't get enough.
 
Our current goals as parents: dress him more (not just in onesies, but pants and shirts, maybe even socks occasionally), feed him solids from time to time (not just 3-4 cheerios while we're eating cheerios), help him learn to get himself back to sleep at night (I can't let him cry it out if he's really upset, but we'll try other methods), give him a better routine, have a cleaner house for him to play in, hmm.... I'll keep thinking. At least he's too young to complain about the places we fall short.
