Lincoln is now 1 year old! I can't believe how fast that year has gone by. He sure has changed and grown up since that day he was born. Last night we invited some of Lincoln's closest friends and family in the area for some banana cake with cinnamon glaze. It was a very nice party and Lincoln got some fun (and loud) toys and a cute Hawaiian shirt. I'm sure Chris will post pictures soon on SmugMug.
On Tuesday we went to the doctor for Link's 12 month checkup. He now weighs 28 lbs. and has reached the 95th percentile for height. He got some shots that weren't fun at all, but other than that everything went well. He got to suck on a DumDum for a few minutes afterwards and that made him happy. We are switching him over to whole milk and still trying to get some solid food into the boy. He likes anything bread related, yogurt, and water. Not much else really stays in that mouth.
Lincoln has a new trick we found out about today while he was visiting his grandparents. Chris's mom was using her bathroom and Lincoln pulled the handle on the door and came right in! This is his first door opening and she was quite surprised to see him smiling at her. Fortunately our doorknobs are a little more tricky and he hasn't quite mastered them yet. He holds them and shakes them back and forth, but hasn't gotten them to open. When we're visiting houses with those handle kind we'll have to remember to watch the exits.
I've started volunteering at the local library and have so far logged in about 6 hours in 1 months time. I don't think I'll be able to commit to much more than that, but I figure every little bit counts. Today I spent 2 hours shelving children's books. Isn't that what I do at home? I actually have a pile of them waiting for me on the living room floor. Maybe I need to rethink this weekly break. My other little side business is selling off the surplus stuff I collect at garage sales. I try to mostly stick to what I need, but sometimes I either buy something I already have (books mostly) without knowing it or I see something for a quarter that I think I can sell for much more on Ebay. So far it's working very nicely. Any profit I make can be used for future garage sale purchases.
Chris and I used a bit of our tax return to buy new clothes so if you notice us suddenly looking more stylish that is why. Chris is looking very sharp. It was becoming very necessary since the majority of our clothes were getting very ragged. I also got a new haircut last week thanks to Chris so I definitely had to get great clothes to compliment it. It's very cute and very short.
Well, I guess that's plenty for now. Chris is always trying to get me to blog, but I can never think of anything important while I'm online.
